DIY Recipe: Toxin-Free Face Cleanser

Cleanser1

Aloe Face Cleanser

At various times I’ve had oily skin, sensitive skin, dry skin, combination skin, prone to breakout skin…the works. I’ve tried every different kind of face-wash under the sun and after I made the switch to a natural beauty routine I realised the easiest, cheapest and safest way to ensure my products are completely natural is to make them myself.

Did you know that the main ingredient in most beauty products is water? We are buying mostly water when we buy beauty products. This means the products are watered down and there isn’t a lot of the actual ingredients that are beneficial. By making your own beauty products, you’re actually making products that have more of the good ingredients for a cheaper cost and can be totally customised to your skins needs.

This cleanser is gentle and natural and the Kaolin (White) Clay adds a gentle daily exfoliation that’s great for oily, sensitive and thick skin.

Customise to Your Skin

I add Tea Tree and Lavender Essentail Oils for their calming and antibacterial properties, but you can totally customise the oils to suit your skin-type.

Other Essential Oils that you can use…

Helichrysum - good for acne - antimicrobial

Lemongrass - balances sebum production and reduces inflammation

Frankincense - calming and restores damaged skin

Ingredients

Cleanser Recipe

4 tbsp Aloe Gel

2 1/2 tsp Jojoba Oil

2 1/2 tsp Liquid Castile Soap

1 tsp Kaolin Clay (Optional)

2-8 drops Essential Oils (I use 3 drops Lavender and 3 drops Tea Tree Oils)

Mix all ingredients in a 100-150 ml bottle and shake. The consistency will be quite thick - top up with water until the bottle is full (or to your desire) to thin the consistency.
