Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of exercise are Luna Mats best for?

Our mats are soft and grippy and great for any kind of exercise - so you can do pilates, HIIT, weights, hot yoga, stretching & barre on them. The suede top acts as a high-performance towel and the more you sweat, the more it grips. The PU Luxe mat top is designed for non-slip stick - our stickiest, grippiest mat, perfect for heated practices.

What makes Luna Mat different from other yoga mats?

Our mats are eco-friendly and made from materials that are good for your health. A lot of (cheap) commercial yoga mats are made from harmful chemicals - PVC, the main component of a lot of yoga mats, is the most toxic plastic known to humans. These materials off-gas known toxins into the bloodstream and lungs whilst using the mat. See our blog for more details on what mat materials to avoid to protect your health.

What is the difference between your yoga mats? (Suede vs. PU)

Our vegan micro-suede mats are great for a variety of workouts that require grip with a bit of movement/slide on the mat - for example, they’re perfect for flowing yoga classes. You stick when you want to stick and you can slide when you want to slide. This is a great all-purpose mat if you do a variety of workouts and can be used both indoors and outdoors. They hold up great in heated practices, becoming grippier with moisture and sweat.

Our vegan PU Luxe mats are the stickiest, grippiest yoga mat that we’ve ever tested. They are great for all uses but particularly good for practices where you need that extra grip for more confidence in your poses (especially the more challenging ones). We recommend them for the die-hard yogis who need the confidence in their grip to get deeper and balance better, however, we also love using them for Pilates and HIIT workouts too. These are also fabulous in heated practices as well as our micro-suede mats.

What is the Pilates Reformer Mat for?

Our Reformer mats are your Reformer Pilates workout BFF - keeping you safe from germs by adding extra hygiene in group classes and helping you get more from your Reformer workout by giving you extra grip to plank, lunge and bridge with confidence. And of course, making your workout prettier.

How do I store and transport my Reformer Mat?

Reformer Mats come with a breathable mesh bag for easy transport - choose to roll them up or fold for transport - fold with the rubber side on the inside. Store away from heat and the sun to prolong their life.

How do I look after my Luna Mat?

We recommend a post-workout spray of a natural yoga mat spray/cleaner to prevent the growth of bacteria. You can also use the wet wipes available at your studio or purchase biodegradable cleaning wipes. The mats do not need to be cleaned after every use - only after quite sweaty uses. Store them away from sunlight and heat to preserve its lifespan. For the Luxe PU mats, we recommend only using a diluted soap and water mix - essential oils can cause them to lose their grip so avoid these.

How long will my Luna Mat last me?

With proper care, our mats should last 5+ years. We’ve got mat samples from 5 years ago that have withstood nearly daily hot yoga use and are still kickin’.
