Luna Active Yoga Mats

2 Eco-Friendly Yoga Mat Options

We have 2 high-quality, vegan and toxin-free mat material options to choose from. Both, we believe to be the highest quality options in the yoga mat manufacturing world.

Our original mat, our Flow micro-suede mat, is a great all-in-one mat for a variety of workouts or practices. As a Pilates Instructor, I have used this mat for the past 5 years for everything from Pilates, HIIT, stretching and both heated and regular yoga practices.

We found that some serious Yogis, however, wanted even more grip than the suede mat provides in order to feel confident in more advanced balancing poses, so we developed our Luxe PU rubber mat for those who want the highest-quality, grippiest, longest-lasting yoga mat that they can find on the market.

Flow Micro-Suede Yoga Mats

Our Flow micro-suede mats are designed to be both soft and grippy to allow you to move with ease around the mat whilst also supporting you with an additional grip layer applied to the suede.

They are made of a micro-suede top bonded to 100% natural tree rubber. This mat is entirely plastic, latex, VOC, TPE, PVC, PER and toxin-free. They are suitable for any type of workout or practice, especially the sweaty ones - your sweat actually increases the mats grip. We recommend them for general fitness workouts, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Hot and Yin Yoga, Pilates and general stretching. These mats work well outdoors and while at the beach too and are a great all-rounder mat for general use.

Mat Thicknesses:

Our Standard thickness is 3.5mm thick and is recommended for general use at home or in the studio.

Our Extra thick mat is 4.5mm thick and is recommended for those who need extra cushion for joints like knees, wrists and hips that get sore with thinner yoga mats.

Our Lightweight mat is 1.2mm thick and weighs just 1kg and is our recommended travel yoga mat. It can be rolled or folded up (our personal preference) and carried easily in a suitcase or carry-on luggage and is great for weekends away or travelling for work or for fun.

All Flow yoga mats are 168cm x 61cm in size.

Mat Care:

To care for your Flow Luna Mat, simply use your studios wipes provided or spray and wipe with a natural spray. You can DIY your own spray using essential oils and white vinegar or witch hazel. You do not need to clean your mat after every use - only after quite sweaty uses or once every 2-4 weeks.

Luxe Vegan PU Yoga Mats

Our Luxe PU yoga mats are our newest mat, born for the times when you need that extra level of grip to feel secure - to reach deeper into a Yoga pose or feel stronger balancing. They are our ultimate grip mat.

We suggest these mats for the Yogi who needs the grippiest of mats in order to reach their poses with confidence or for the person who does heated workouts. These mats have a waterproof layer within them to prevent mould and mat breakdown from heated workouts. They are also a little longer and wider than our Flow mats which makes them great for taller people or practices where you move up and down your mat like Vinyasa Yoga. These mats are super high-quality vegan PU rubber (almost like a ‘vegan leather’) and your hands and feet almost “stick” to the mat with its grip. Like our Micro-suede mats, they are entirely PVC, TPE and toxin-free as well.

Mat Thicknesses:

Our Luxe Mats are 4mm-4.5mm in thickness and recommended for general use at home or in the studio.

Our Luxe 2.5mm Mats are 2.5mm thick and our recommended travel or minimalist yoga mat. It is slightly thicker and heavier than our Lightweight Flow Yoga Mat but is still quite light at about 1.2kg in weight. It works well over your studios yoga mats for added thickness, grip and hygiene or on its own for a lightweight option.

All Luxe yoga mats are 186cm x 68cm in size.

Mat Care:
To care for your Luxe Luna Mat, you can use either just water or a diluted soap and water mixture and a towel or bamboo cloth. Do not use essential oils, strong unnatural sprays or sprays with lots of vinegar as this can breakdown the PU rubber and cause it to lose its grip. You do not need to clean your mat after every use - only after quite sweaty uses or once every 2-4 weeks.

TLC of your Luna Mats (General Care)

To care for your mats, we recommend regularly spraying and wiping them down after sweaty workouts. You can use the wipes provided by your studio or a natural spray with a paper towel or cloth. If your mat has any visible dirt or marks, we love using a bamboo cleaning wipe to get these out.

To extend its life, we recommend not leaving the mat in the sun or in a hot car for long times and we recommend rolling, rather than folding, the mat to prevent creases. When cared for, your Luna Mat will last you years of regular use.

If you have any questions about caring for your mat, please e-mail us and we are happy to help.

Love the Planet and Your Health

Did you know that most yoga mats are made from toxic chemicals? In fact, many of the cheap yoga mats you see in stores are made from PVC - a known human carcinogen that off-gasses other toxins whilst you use it (see our blog about what materials to avoid). When we found this out in our quest for a new Yoga mat, we were disgusted and Luna Active was born as a company to provide customers with an honest product that is good for their health.

We package our mats with a small footprint and have removed plastic where possible - please recycle the PP film that protects your mat and re-use the tissue to wrap a present for a friend. We also proudly donate a portion of proceeds to organisations that help solve our plastic-pollution problem.
